Taking the top prize at the 2007 Pusan Film Festival, the Chinese-Korean co-production Life Track uses minimalist filmmaking to maximum effect. This quiet, emotionally piercing debut feature from Korean-Chinese writer-director Jin Guanghao, or Kim Kwang Ho, follows the unlikely friendship that develops between two disabled people in the remote countryside. An armless man (Chui Jinghu) living alone in the country takes in a deaf-mute girl (Jang So Yeon, Crossing) on the run from the police. Brought together by unusual circumstances, these two anguished souls who have been abused and abandoned by the world slowly learn to trust again.
