Triple Tap (simplified Chinese: 枪王之王; traditional Chinese: 鎗王之王) is a 2010 Hong Kong action film directed by Derek Yee.
T’S summer over in the West and that usually means a slew of movies — and reels of reviews, some draggy — to digest. But hey, who doesn’t like going to the movies? During my recent cinema patrol, one poster caught my eyes. That of Triple Tap, a new movie by Derek Yee …you know, the same guy who brought youShinjuku Incident and Protégé.
Now, that set me off thinking. Is this the sequel to the 2000 Double Tap, directed by Lau Chi-Leung? If so, why take 10 years to come up with the sequel? WhileTriple Tap has quite a similar storyline to Double Tap,the execution process sets these two movies apart.
Triple Tap may look like your ordinary “kill the b*****d” genre, but what goes on is quite interesting and should I say, fresh? There are twists all through and surprisingly, the whole thing turns out to be really enjoyable. While some movies opt for loud music to scare its audiences, Triple Tap on the other hand goes deep into your conscience and taps into your own fears and values.
